I'll wager it's the speedo. My bike is 1 1/2 weeks old and had a similar problem. I thought for sure it was coming from the engine area too. Saw the many posts about the speedo and next time it happened all I had to do was place my hand on it - and it stopped. Last night I pulled the tank & speedo, put shrink wrap (for electrical connections) on the posts where they pass through, shrunk them up & put everything back together - no more noise. We all have to thank whoever found where that noise was coming from.
